Tourism Day at the Legislature

Gatan and Kellee Waddell, managers of NROC, spent this past Monday in the beautiful Capitol Building in Charleston, WV attending the Tourism Day at the Legislature. There were over 80 vendor booths set up, displaying the marvelous variety of attractions, historical sites, adventure opportunities, and lodging options available to travelers and locals alike across the Mountain State. Representatives from the counties’ Convention & Visitors Bureaus as well as from the State parks and forests also attended with colorful displays showing what’s available in their areas.
One of the highlights pertaining to NROC’s neighborhood was the announcement of a new 90-mile excursion train loop scheduled to run through the rugged mountains east of Elkins, approximately an hour west of NROC. The new route will offer folks another exciting way to enjoy the scenic highlands of West Virginia. It will also create 30 addition miles of rail trail to be enjoyed by hikers and bikers.
